Founded from a passion for live steel drum music, Sunshine Steel Drums, (SSD) has spent over 20 years creating energetic event experiences filled with rhythm and authentic island spirit. Every performance is crafted to engage the crowd, elevate the atmosphere, and leave lasting memories.
The Passion That Started It All
Askia Bakari, a native of Florida with Bahamian roots... plays keyboards, steel drums, guitar and sings. Askia's musical history and experience is of both American and Caribbean cultures.
He brings a unique blend of flavors which is tailored to please the audience. Askia performs solo and/or with bands at various venues, including restaurants, luaus, pool parties, beaches, and more!
